MISSION STATEMENT

KRER is an independent, locally owned AND managed, community based, noncommercial radio station that is listener supporter. KRER offers a channel for community building and cultural enrichment in Rains County and beyond.

By focusing on our community through radio excellence we will create a unique community resource, one that promotes connections and fosters a sense of belonging. We will maintain a local focus for sharing music, arts, culture, news and opinions. We will serve the people of our community by providing outlets for their creative skills and energies.

By serving the interests of a diverse group of listeners. KRER seeks to entertain, stimulate and challenge listeners with wide-ranging music programming, local news, issues and public affairs.

Striving to be a forum for many voices, by providing an outlet for the expression of a wide spectrum of ideas; targeting those typically lacking media access.

KRER is committed to respect for personal dignity. While debate is a necessary and healthy part of the discourse in broadcasting and station management, bigotry and personal attacks will not be tolerated.

KRER 102.5 is Rains County’s one and only FM radio station. Our mission is to bring local news and event information to Rains County. This station works hand in hand with the Rains County Emergency Management program to bring emergency notification in a rapid concise manner to help protect the lives of Rains County citizens. With the support of the Rains County Emergency Management Office, the Emory Economic Development Corporation and the Rains Amateur Radio Association the station is up and operating and those organizations have given all that they can to this station.

This station is classified as a non-commercial LOW POWER station, this means that we cannot sell advertisement space, we must operate on sponsorships’ and donations only. In exchange for their support, those sponsors can be mentioned on the air. While it is not the same as commercial advertising, it can be just as beneficial and can offer some things that commercial advertising cannot. Research indicates that low power community radio is, in fact, an excellent public relations tool and that listeners have a positive image of companies and individuals that support low power radio.  The station plays a variety of music, promotes local activates and announces local weather and news headlines. At this moment coverage is good for almost all of Rains County, as our sponsorship grows we will be able to upgrade our transmitter and antenna to cover all of the county and into the surround counties as well.

The members of the Rains Amateur Radio Association, Rains County Emergency Management Office have donated their time, money and experience to get this project up and running. We need your help to maintain and improve this station and better serve Rains County. Your sponsorship and donations will insure that when local emergencies like severe weather and important local news occur it is relayed in accurate and timely manner.
